Homeless Assistance Program

Our homeless assistance program was designed to prevent homelessness in our communities. The idea surrounding the program
is that we assist clients who are either struggling to pay their rent because of an eviction or assist clients who are in lack of housing
and otherwise homeless. We work on a monthly basis, depending on each client’s situation.
The end result we want when helping a client is for that client to be stable and able to pay their own rent.

How do I know if I’m eligible?

There are guidelines that we must follow. These guidelines are:

· Must be facing eviction, have an eviction notice or be homeless

· Must have some income

· Must be willing to participate in budgeting meetings with case manager.

· Household income must be at or below 50% of the area median income.

· Must not be receiving any other form of rental assistance. (HRA etc)

· Must be a RENTAL unit. (you cannot own the unit)

· Must live within the Prairie Five C.A.C., Inc. Service Area.

 Types of Rental Assistance Available

· Security Deposits

· Monthly rent

· Back rent

· Motel fees (ONLY if client is homeless and in process of renting a unit)

Who do I contact?

If you are a client who is in need of rental assistance and meet the guidelines of the program you should call your local Prairie Five outreach office or contact our main office in Montevideo and speak with Kayla Coyour, Case Manager for the Homeless.
