ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The Minnesota Energy Assistance Program (EAP) is funded by the
Office of Energy Security, Minnesota
Department of Commerce EAP funds are made available to eligible households through local delivery agencies, to pay a portion of their costs for home energy, especially during the heating season. Funds are also available for weatherization activities and energy related repairs. Energy Assistance payments are calculated to provide the highest level of benefits to households with the lowest income and the highest energy costs based on fuel types. Assistance to households is based on income, household size, and the actual cost of heating fuels for a consecutive twelve (12) month period which includes the previous heating season. To establish eligibility , a household must complete an application, be vulnerable to home heating costs and document household income.. Income for households must be at or below 50 percent of the Minnesota state Median Income established by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Income must be documented for one-fourth of the annual gross income using the three months of income previous to applying for assistance. No households are categorically entitled to assistance under this program.
This income level applies to the crisis and weatherization programs as well. 1 $5,596.00 2 $7,318.00 3 $9,040.00 4 $10,762.00 5 $12,484.00 6 $14,206.00 7 $14,529.00 8 $14,852.00 9 $15,175.00 10 $15,497.00
